Emergency Rooms: are they really for emergencies?

We all have had to wait when going into an emergency room. I say, Why bother? If you truly are having an emergency, then call a paramedic who will take you right in and will bypass the wait at the emergency room. Ok, not to short change the doctors involved at these facilities, but are the emergency rooms really emergency rooms? If you have to wait 2 hours to get into see a physician are they really an "emergency room?" Perhaps they should be called something else.

After waiting the other night for two hours in misery I decided to go home and be miserable because I really was not dying and I would much rather be miserable at home.

I have a very close friend who was having a seizure and they did not take her in right away either. As a result she has permanent damage from the seizure to her vision and her eyes. She had a seizure because another doctor gave her a medicine that had an interaction with a medicine she had already taken. So in a sense, the doctor failed her, and the ER failed her. I have lost all faith in our health system. I don't think I am the only one out there.

You have to really advocate for yourself or you will not get the treatment that you need. So people, remember to advocate for yourself. You will not get what you need unless you insist on it. Noone else is looking out for you, except you. And parents, don't be intimidated to ask for what you want from the doctors. I had to learn this the hard way. If you don't ask for want, then all of your needs will not be addressed.

The Ugly Truth- my movie review

Despite some of the negative press out there on this movie, I actually enjoyed it. It was everything a movie was supposed to be... entertaining. Despite some situations that may have been a little far-fetched (maybe just a little) I loved every moment of it. Maybe I am totally corny. I can live with being a little corny. I have to say it was nice to see a woman (Katherine Heigl) in a role where she has a little bit of power, as a producer of a television show. It was nice to see some fresh talk about the differences between the sexes, which I think, by the way is totally down right honest. Anyway, happy movie going out there. If you are a sensitive person, who gets offended easily, don't see this movie, otherwise, got to love it!!! And ladies, take your boyfriends, I think they would enjoy it.

Michael Jackson : an American Icon

One thing is for sure about Michael Jackson....he was the entertainer of our era... for sure. We can never know for sure about the negative allegations made about him, but we do know this: the accusers sure lacked credibility and the jury acquitted him. The best thing to do is to remember for him for his contributions to our culture. I had the typical crush on MJ when I was 13 years old. I had the poster with him in the yellow sweater. We will miss you Michael Jackson.
